My first entry explains what this is and why I’m doing it (summary: to have fun!)
Here is a summary of my biases, to help you judge whether you will find my ranting fun and agreeable, or stupid and annoying:
Love: Ruby, C, C with classes (ie. small subset of C++), JSON, tiny, low-latency, domain-specific languages, BeOS
Hate: Java, XML, garbage collection, big, spinny beach ball / hourglass, performance that is only acceptable when you amortize it

I just read your response to Paul Graham’s essay about programmers and cages at Jeff Atwood’s Coding Horror blog. I cannot help but think your analysis is spot on. I once worked at a startup, and now work at a larger co. where I learn a lot more about programming in a day than I used to learn in a week, for each of the reasons you mentioned. Spot on analysis of the realities of a startup.
